It retains the heat.I used this for my infant food during travel.. As others mentioned I tried with warming up the thermos with hot water first and packed the hot food. It retained the heat up to 4 hours.

This works really well at keeping my sons food cold or warm for his lunch, but in order to keep the food warm you have to boil hot water in the container first and I took away a star because that’s inconvenient.

Works great. Fill it with tomato soup at 6 a.m., just the right temperature at noon (not burning hot, but hotter than just warm). No leaks, easy to clean. Bought a second for my daughter. It seems small at first, but wait until you fill it up. I would not want anything bigger, for adults or kids.

Keeps food warm...before you put hot water in it I would recommend filling the thermos with really hot water and pouring out before adding hot food. Food should be warm a few hours later.

Was excited to purchase due to size, color and most of all past reputation experience for my 5 year old school lunch. After just ONE lunch use by my 5 yr old, it came home WITHOUT the gasket. It must have popped out while he was closing it. Sure, you can replace the gaskets, but what an inconvenience and more $$ to spend. I can understand IF this happened after multiple use, but AFTER the FIRST?!? Not acceptable and not impressed. Don't waste your hard earned money!

Fill with hot water (I use a French press for my coffee, so I just boil extra water and pour some in this while I am assembling lunches/making coffee in the morning). Heat food in the microwave so it's piping hot, dump water out of thermos and add hot food. Seems to keep food plenty hot for lunch. My son's favorites are Tomato soup, and Mac N Cheese. It's nice to have more variety vs cold lunch options.
