I just had surgery for the same cancer as Kathleen. A second time around for me the first was an invasive cancer. She was, understandably, dealing unresolved issues, but nowadays patients are better informed about their cancers. It is scary but I don't think she was realistic in her approach especially about the radiation. It is threatening but the author overdramatized the character's reactions.I enjoyed the friendship between Kathleen and Joyce. Friendships make all life's trials easier.

After worrying that Anita Diamant's latest book would only be for women, I was pleasantly surprised to find myself (a male) being drawn in right off the bat. Good Harbor offers a peek into the lives of two modern women who meet by chance in a small town in Massachusetts.We are privlidged to watch their friendship grow as they reveal to us and each other, the joys and pains of life in modern America The minor characters are also interesting and I am hoping that a followup novel will continue the women's story as they deal with life in modern USA.I heard the book on tape and recommend it hightly to those, like me, spend too much time in a car. It got to where I looked forward to going for a drive, so I could hear more of Good Harbor.

I couldn't put this book down as soon as I got it. I also loved The Red Tent, and this was recommended for a book club I am a part of. I'm glad, because now I really am a Diamant fan. I loved the story and the thoughts and really everything about it. I love her writing style, and this didn't disappoint.

Good Harbor is great reading. Interesting characters, good plot line. We read it for our Dec. book club and all agreed it was interesting, believable. Most of us had not been able to get into author's other book, The Red Tent, as it moved too slowly. I was hesitant at first to read this but quickly changed my mind. Easy, quick, enjoyable book.Pat in southern CA

This was a beautiful read about two women who although from different backgrounds and different ages became friends. Both are going through difficult times but find that they can support each other, a lovely, lovely read. Anita does not write in a sentimental and 'mushy' way, I am 'hooked' on this author. I am always sorry when her books end - I want more as I get so involved with her characters. I also loved The Red Tent.
