The LODGE Lodge Logic Double Dutch Oval L8DD3 is a new model with a deep lid and a handle on the kitchen oven loop handle. Lid can also be used as a skillet. You can roll a sponge cake or dish potato or flip it over for double sided cooking. After many years of research from Lodge, this is a ready-to-use. The Lodge Logic has been finished with a coating on the surface to give it a stately finished product that has been used for many years. LODGE Lodge was born in 1896 by Joseph Lodge in South Pittsburgh, USA. Since then, we have been adhering to cast irons with the belief that choosing good tools is the first step in creating delicious dishes. LODGE cast iron products are pre-seasoned with soy oil and factory use. Just pop it out of the box and wash it with warm water and you can use it immediately without any messy break-in. Cast iron features slow transfer of heat. Cast iron may be similar to stone than iron with high heat conductivity. Furthermore, the flesh build of 5 mm enhances its metallic properties. This gives you the heat control that other cookware can, and brings the flavor of the ingredients out of the core. It can be used for direct flames, induction heaters, halogen heaters, as well as in the oven. Not for microwave use

Been looking for something like this to bake sourdough bread for a very long time.Expensive item but in my opinion it's worth it, great quality, bearing it in mind that it's also very heavy.All I use for it's to make bread, it really does make a difference.First picture is the crossed sourdough baked on fan oven, the two other pictures I've managed to get the so desired "ear" on my bread, using the dutch oven it gives a good oven spring!! Love every bit of bit.So for my purposes, I do highly recommend it.

I was initially concerned about some of the previous reviews for this product but I’m glad I read the good reviews as well and after some deliberation decided to buy it anyway. It has been excellent so far, it arrived in perfect condition and was pre-seasoned. Very easy to clean and full instructions were provided to care for it and re-season if needed. With care this will last a lifetime. I baked two loaves of sourdough, they fitted inside perfectly and rose better than any I have baked without a Dutch oven. A great buy.

Excellent quality. Used the lid on my kamado joe classic and it fits perfectly. Also fits into the ring for casseroles/ stews. Washed perfectly with no residue. Great buy and worth the price tag

Die Verarbeitungsmängel am Lodge decken sich mit denen anderer Amazon-Käufer. Zum Teil sind Stellen nicht ordnungsgemäß beschichtet worden oder sind teilweise schluderig von Hand aufgetragen/behandelt. Ein wenig Rost ist eigentlich nach ein paar Jahren normal und stellt kein Problem dar. Aber hier war Rostbildung bereits initial vorhanden. Hätte ich den Rost laut Anleitung mit einem Metallschwamm behandelt, wäre mir die Beschichtung/Lack weiter aufgerissen. Wären diese Mängel bei der Qualitätssicherung aufgefallen und ordentlich behandelt worden, so wäre solch ein Produkt zu einem so günstigem Preis bestimmt ein Kracher. Ich empfehle ein paar Moneten mehr in die Hand zu nehmen und etwas qualitativ hochwertiges zu erwerben.

We originally bought this to make good sourdough. It's fantastic at this. However it is also incredibly versatile - we've used it for slow cooking with great success. It's just beautiful quality and genuinely feels as though it will last for years if well cared for. Worth the money.

I have 2 le creuset pot, and bought this as a multi-function piece to bake bread in 240-260 degree Celsius. I have to say, I use my Lodge far more than the le creuset now as it is more hardy and I don't have to worry about scratching any enamel surfaces. Nothing has stuck to the pot, and being black, any burn marks will just blend in and make the pot look even more beautiful.

I bought this for sourdough bread making, but it is also really useful for casseroles etc. The picture shows a chicken, leak and mushroom pie made in the large lid. You can't really wash it in the dishwasher as it will lose its seasoning of the cast iron. Should last a few lifetimes.

I bought mine to make bread. Leaving the lid on for the first half hour then removing it for the bread to brown off results in a chewy crust, just like you get in France. I wish English supermarkets would make decent bread, I wouldn't even feed it to the ducks. That is why I bought this. It's reassuringly heavy and sturdy. Don't drop it on your foot though.

I bought this specifically for baking sourdough and it works brilliantly but be aware that it is pretty heavy and care is needed when handling it especially when it is hot. Very pleased with my purchase as it has transformed my bread baking

Very good quality and excellent for baking bread.and chicken for example. The seasoning in some spots had gone off when I received it as some other reviewers have commented. But you just need to reseasoning the thing. (So no 5 stars) . The lid fits well onto the pan. Very pricey Dutch oven but very good quality and you can use thé lid as a frying pan. I would definitely recommend this dutch oven.

Bought to cook sourdough in. I preheat it to V hot, transfer dough on baking paper. cook with lid on for 20, then take lid off for another 20. Works a charm every time. Looks like bread bought from a swank bakery.

Fabulous - have cooked quite a few stews in this. Browns meat perfectly and food doesn't stick when cooking for long periods. Hold its heat wonderfully and cleans easily. Just needs a little oil applied to it with a bit of kitchen towel after washing which I wipe off with kitchen towel before using. Can highly recommend! I should have purchased one sooner.

There were three rust spots, but the thing with cast iron is, you just brush off the rust, season it with vegetable oil and then burn the oil into the surface in the oven, and the seasoning is reestablished. Still, only a 4 star for the quality issue.Worked well for baking bread!
